About Us

The Department of Computing Machines and Programming was organized on March 20, 1972. Its first head was Viktor Yemelyanovich Bykhovtsev, Candidate of Technical Sciences (now Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor). The department provided educational and scientific work at the faculties of mathematics, physics and economics. At the department, a general-purpose computing center, a student computer center, laboratories of keyboard computers and counting and perforating machines were organized. In 1975, the department of OMOEI of the Faculty of Economics was separated from the department.

In 1976, the computing center, consisting of two departments: engineering and operational and mathematical, consisting of 48 people, became an independent division of the university and the department was transformed into the department of computational mathematics and programming. In 1977, the Department of Mathematical Control Problems was separated from the department. Since 1983, the department was headed by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Rubanik Vasily Pavlovich, and since 1987 - Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Zhadan Mikhail Ivanovich. From 1998 to 2003, the department was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Mozharovsky Valentin Vasilievich.

In 2003, the head of the department was the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor Kamornikov Alexander Fedorovich. From March 2004 to December 2013, the head of the department was Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Lubochkin Alexander Vasilievich. From December 2013 to the present, the head is the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, associate professor Kuzmenkov Dmitry Sergeevich.

The department conducted and is conducting training in the following specialties: Н.01.01. - mathematics, N.08.01 - applied mathematics, 1-40 01 01 - information technology software (POIT), 1-31 03 01 - mathematics (scientific and pedagogical activity), 1-31 03 03-01 - applied mathematics (scientific -production activity), 1-31 03 03-02 - applied mathematics (scientific and pedagogical activity), 1-31 03 06 - economic cybernetics, 1-40 04 01 - computer science and programming technologies. In January 2008, on the initiative of the department, a joint educational and research computer laboratory "F.Skorina GSU - NGO IBA Gomel-Park" was created. Classes at the department are conducted by highly qualified specialists: currently 1 doctor of sciences, 10 candidates of sciences, 2 senior teachers, 1 assistant are working at the department.

01/24/2018 at the Department of Computational Mathematics and Programming, a student research laboratory (SNIL) "Mathematical Modeling and Applied Programming" was created.
